A passive RFID transponder, encoded once with a unique 15-digit ID, implanted beneath the skin between the shoulder blades. No battery. No GPS. No moving parts. Readable for the life of the animal.
A handheld reader emits a 134.2 kHz electromagnetic field within 2–15 cm of the chip.
The copper antenna coil inside the chip converts the field into a tiny current — enough to wake the integrated circuit.
The IC modulates the field back with the 15-digit ID encoded in ROM, following the FDX-B protocol (ISO 11785).
The scanner reads the ID in under a second and displays it. The operator looks it up in the Insight registry.
Anything labelled "ISO compatible" or "universal" reads our chip. If you have a scanner not on this list, contact us — we'll confirm in 24 hours.
